BMW Motorrad​ International GS Trophy 2020:

Biker Heaven – New Zealand

BMW International is recognising New Zealand as a premium motorbike destination by staging their next GS Trophy in Gods own little slice of heaven.

Not only being used as the backdrop of many movies and TV Series, the latest being the Amazon’s Lord of the Rings, but the testing ground for new vehicles and commercials.  February 2020 BMW International will have teams from all over the world tackle New Zealand’s terrain and landscape.

Motorbike Touring

New Zealand is the perfect place for exploration on the back of a motorbike. Its unique shape has created some very interesting touring options.

Following the coastline you experience the winding roads with their sharp corners and amazing vistas. Staying on the ground and taking advantage of tight road corners and large vistas are possible when exploring the two islands on a motorbike. Feel the wind and sun in your face while travelling past golden yellow beaches and through lush green forest.

Tectonic upheaval has created a many of different shapes and forms of alpine areas and mountain landscapes. Besides the soft adventure of walking or hiking in these pristine areas, mountaineering is a major draw card for many of our visitors. But it’s not only climbing the rocky cliff faces that adds thrills to your holidays, underground caves occupied by the weird and wonderful creatures of Aotearoa bring a new dimension to caving.

Thermal currents entice glider planes to world record breaking distances in the South Island. But if motorized air travel is more your thing, then the “Wings over Wanaka” display is the place to be.

Staying on the ground and taking advantage of tight road corners and large vistas are possible when exploring the two islands on a motorbike. May this be now displayed in the form of Ocean Racing yachts like the Volvo Ocean race stopping here, or the America’s Cup, exploring New Zealand’s many bays and coves is a dream for sailors worldwide. Going hand in hand with boating is the sport of fishing. Inland, where the rivers and lakes are stocked with large trout that test the skills of fishermen, to the game fishing contests off the coast with Tunas and Marlin putting up a fight and providing the thrill of a lifetime.
